Kalaripayattu is an ancient form of martial art system originated in Kerala. It is considered to be the mother of all marital art forms. The Chinese Shaolin Kung-Fu traces its origins to Kalaripayattu. Kalaripayattu is still a surviving martial art form taught in Kalaris (schools where Kalaripayattu is taught) across Kerala. The training is based on an elaborate system of body control exercises, Ayurvedic medical treatments, rigorous combat training, & mental training.
